With 30+ years of experience in investment grade real estate, finances, and property taxes, Norman Quinn is highly skilled in creating and executing tax policies and value maximizing strategies. His brand is at the top of the property tax industry marked by high integrity and skill sets to address the most complex scenarios. He has worked for private owners, public companies, and global consulting firms. Norman understands the components of successful real estate ownership and operations over the entire investment life cycle.

Experience

His national work includes profitability, cost control, transparency, and reporting in operationally challenging environments. Working with local jurisdiction to resolve valuation disputes and competitively position properties in markets for owners. Asset types include office, corporate facilities, retail (big box, strip, malls), industrial, warehouse, flex facilities, MOB, multi-family, manufactured housing,  storage, marinas etc.

In 2019 Norm’s group joined Duff & Phelps, now Kroll, as Managing Director, after eleven years as President of the division, Equity Property Tax Group, at the global law firm of Faegre Baker Daniels. Highlights included representation of retail assets for the second largest mall owner in the US which generated over $150M in tax savings.  Previously, Norman was VP of Property Taxes for Equity Office Properties Trust in Chicago. He was the Founder and President of its subsidiary, Equity Property Tax Group LLC that serviced internal and external clients. Equity Office Properties Trust was the nation’s largest publicly held office building owner and manager with interests in 581 buildings in 16 states up to the Blackstone purchase in 2007. Norman team saved over $44.5 million annually in tax savings. Prior to Equity Office, he spent 11 years with Equity Group Investments Inc. and held titles from VP, Director, Manager, and Internal Auditor with responsibilities in taxes, mortgage servicing, risk management, and planned tax issues for all assets including companies going public into REITS for the Sam Zell / Robert Lurie Portfolios.

A speaker / participant; Counselor of Real Estate, CRE, Institute for Professionals in Taxation, IPT, CMI,  National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, NAREIT, American Property Tax Counsel, Building Owners, and Management Association, BOMA, and Chicago Civic Federation. He has published numerous articles and lead the National Property Taxpayers Association NPTA.
